Sara joined the Cook & Haugeberg team in December 2018, after 2.5 years as a Staff Accountant at another CPA firm in Fairbanks. She graduated with distinction from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with an Associates in Business Management and a Certificate in Bookkeeping in the Spring of 2015.
As the Firm Administrator, Sara performs all bookkeeping and payroll needs for both the firm’s clientele, and the firm as well. These duties include, but are not limited to the following: Payroll & payroll taxes, preparation of both quarterly and year-end payroll reports and forms, preparation of yearly 1099s & 1096s, reconciling of bank accounts, processing all Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable, posting journal entries, processing direct deposit, and consulting with the firm clients on any QuickBooks questions or transactions as needed.
In her 5 years’ experience, Sara has developed a background in Non-Profit and Grant accounting, with specific focus on the classification of expenses for proper grant usage and reporting. She is well-versed in various types of payroll, including Certified, Union, service industry, and Tribal Councils. As a local of Fairbanks, Alaska since birth, Sara is aware of the challenges small Alaskan communities contend with and works with the clients to address accounting issues as they arise.
