Gerald D. Haugeberg, Partner

Mr. Haugeberg received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Minot State College in May of 1972 and completed graduate course work and comprehensive examinations for a Masters degree in Accounting from the University of North Dakota in August 1973. He received his CPA certificate in 1975.

He joined the Fairbanks office of the predecessor firm of Cook & Haugeberg in September 1973 and became a partner in 1981. He has been involved in a wide variety of professional engagements including audits of retail lumber businesses, car dealerships, scientific and technical consulting firms, construction contractors, financial institutions, not-for-profit organizations and corporations established as a result of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, as well as other profit and nonprofit organizations. He has participated in auditing and other services for the Denali Borough School District, the Nenana City Public Schools, the City of Fairbanks, the City of North Pole, the North Slope Borough, Circle Utilities, Inc., the City of Wasilla, Golden Valley Electric Association, Inc., the Fairbanks North Star Borough and School District, and the Fairbanks Municipal Utilities System. He is the audit partner for the firm's financial institution clients, as well as for other, privately owned, business clients.

Mr. Haugeberg is also the tax partner for the firm and he manages the office's business, estate and trust, nonprofit and personal income tax services including substantial involvement with tax and financial planning for both individuals and businesses. In this capacity, he leads the tax research, planning and preparation activities of the office. He deals with the broad range of income tax problems and opportunities encountered by all types of Alaskan businesses and assists clients with planning for the tax aspects of business and investment transactions, preparing estate and personal financial plans, accounting for trust operations, and dealing with income and other tax issues for our business, governmental, nonprofit and individual clients.

He is a past president of the Midnight Sun Council, Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army and a past president of the Fairbanks Estate Planning Council as well as a member of the Fairbanks Rotary Club, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Alaska Society of Certified Public Accountants.
